Teddy Bear Toss
TEDDY BEAR TOSS
It’s the greatest goal celebration of the year
The Portland Winterhawks brought the holiday spirit to the Rose City during the most fun game of the season – our 24th annual Teddy Bear Toss presented by Les Schwab took place on Saturday, Dec. 10 against the Seattle Thunderbirds!
The Teddy Bear Toss is a popular, holiday season promotion most common at junior and minor league hockey games. Fans are encouraged to bring new teddy bears or other stuffed toys to the game and throw them onto the ice when the Winterhawks score their first goal. It’s a celebration unlike any other! All the furry friends are collected and donated as presents to greater Portland-area charities and hospitals ahead of the holidays.

This year, the collected teddy bears will be donated to Les Schwab charities, Portland Fire, Easterseals Oregon, the Salvation Army, Toy & Joy, First Tee, Fire and Rescue, Rockaway Lions Club, Albertina Kerr and others!
Winterhawks fans helped donate over 14,000 teddy bears this season while selling out the VMC! That’s the second most bears ever collected in our 24 years of running this game night. Bravo, Portland!
The Portland Winterhawks have held a Teddy Bear Toss game every season since 1998. It’s a unique opportunity to be part of the coolest goal celebration of the year!
Keep an eye out for the promotion in December 2023 when the new schedule drops.
