Portland, OR-  Portland sports icon, Harry Glickman passed away yesterday, June, 10, 2020.  His vision of Portland as a major league worthy city changed the landscape for our entire state.  Of course, everyone knows about his founding of the Trail Blazers but, for the hockey world, his serving as founder and president of the Portland Buckaroos and his contribution to getting the Memorial Coliseum built for that storied franchise still resonates as a major contribution to our city.

“My friendship with Harry and his family has endured for over 40 years.  Harry gave me my first job in sports at the Trail Blazers and he has been a supportive mentor of mine throughout my career.  There will never be another Harry Glickman and he will be fondly remembered and truly missed by us all,” said Doug Piper, President of the Portland Winterhawks.
