Winterhawks continue streak with 7-3 win

Calgary, AB – Wednesday, November 22nd  

The Portland Winterhawks lead the game 7-3 against the Calgary Hitmen for their eighth straight win.

The Winterhawks (17-4-0-0) came out strong with three goals in the first period. Kieffer Bellows potted his first of the night, 4:29 into the period. Then, Jake Gricuis gave the Hawks a two goal advantage, with Brad Ginnell and Lane Gilliss picking up assists. Bellows would net his 17th goal of the season, to end the first period with the Winterhawks in the lead 3-0.

Cody Glass started out the second period with a goal at the 5:42 mark to give the Hawks a 4-0 advantage. The Hitmen (6-14-3-1) would respond with two goals in the second to make it a 4-2 game. Skyler Mckenzie potted his 18th of the season, followed by a goal Bronson Sharp. The Hawks ended the second period with a 19:51 goal from Joachin Blichfeld for a 7-2 lead.

Calgary would get one more on the board in the third to end the game, 7-3 for the Winterhawks eighth straight win.

Goaltender Cole Kehler made 23 saves on the win.

The Winterhawks continue their Canadian road trip at Red Deer Friday night. Once back, their next home game is Sunday, December 3rd at the Moda Center as the Hawks take on the Saskatoon Blades on Toy Drive Night.
