Winterhawks announce partnership with Oregon Zoo

Portland, Ore. – The Portland Winterhawks are proud to announce a new partnership with the Oregon Zoo for the 2022-23 season, headlined by the club’s first-ever Oregon Zoo Night at the VMC on Saturday, October 8.

Fans can learn more about the Oregon Zoo and its partnership with the Winterhawks on the VMC concourse at this Saturday’s game. The Oregon Zoo will also be featured heavily during the game’s interactive elements: Zoo staff members will participate in tricycle races and the sounding of the “Storm Warning” siren during intermissions, and special Winterhawks x Oregon Zoo stuffed animals will be sold in the team store and tossed into the crowd during the “Three Stars” presentation.

Additionally, the Oregon Zoo-sponsored “Hawk of the Night” promotion will recognize the most passionate Winterhawks fan at each home game this season.

Through this new partnership, Oregon Zoo members can purchase Winterhawks tickets at a discounted price which give a portion of the ticket cost back to the Oregon Zoo Research & Development programs. Click here to learn more about becoming an Oregon Zoo member.

About the Oregon Zoo

The mission of the Oregon Zoo is to create a better future for wildlife.

Community supported since 1888, Oregon Zoo provides exceptional experiences to guests to inspire them to create a better future for wildlife. From education programs to on-the-ground conservation efforts, the zoo is working to save species regionally and worldwide. The Oregon Zoo is community-funded through visitor admissions, public funds from Metro (a Portland-area regional government), and charitable donations to the Oregon Zoo Foundation. With more than 1.5 million guests a year, Oregon Zoo is the top-paid attraction in the Pacific Northwest.

The land of the zoo, indeed this entire area of the confluence of the Columbia and Willamette rivers, is the traditional homeland and fishing and gathering of a range of tribes throughout the region. Its wealth of resources sustained Indigenous people who lived here both year-round and seasonally. These tribes have honored, protected, and stewarded these resources for thousands of years and continue to do so today. Oregon Zoo honors with gratitude the land itself and the people who have cared for it since time immemorial. This calls all of us to commit to continuing to learn how to be better stewards of the land we call home.
