Portland, Ore. – The Portland Winterhawks, proud member club of the Western Hockey League, announced today that they acquired a conditional pick in the 2023 WHL Prospects Draft from the Seattle Thunderbirds in exchange for Mason Dunsford.
The 2003-born goaltender played 23 games with the Americans over the last two seasons before being acquired by the Winterhawks last month. The New Westminster, B.C. native recorded a 5.30 goals against average and an .857 save percentage. Dunsford was originally selected by Tri-City 118th overall in the 2018 WHL Prospects Draft.
Standing at 6-foot-1, 176 pounds, the netminder participated in the 2021 Neely Cup last week at Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
The Winterhawks currently have Dante Giannuzzi and Lochlan Gordon as their two goaltenders on their preseason roster.
The Portland Winterhawks begin their 46th season of play on October 1 and will host Seattle on October 2 for the team’s Pacific Office Automation Opening Night. Special Red Out Ticket Packages are on sale now for it.
