Hawks Sign Nick Cicek and Darren Gisti

The Portland Winterhawks have announced the signings of defensemen Nick Cicek and Darren Gisti.

Cicek, in his 16-year-old season, was the Hawks’ seventh round pick in the 2015 WHL Bantam Draft. He played last season for the Winnipeg Monarchs of the Winnipeg City Midget League (WCML) and posted 11 goals and 25 assists for 36 points in 35 games.

Gisti, in his 17-year-old season, was added to the Hawks’ protected list in August. He also played in the WCML last season with the Winnipeg Hawks, and he totaled 18 goals and 17 assists for 35 points in 30 games. He is playing this season for the Dauphin Kings of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League.

“Nick and Darren both had impressive performances in training camp and in the Neely Cup, and we look forward to them advancing their careers with the Winterhawks in the years to come,” said Portland Winterhawks Vice President, General Manager & Head Coach Mike Johnston.
