Hawks Sign Alex Overhardt

The Portland Winterhawks have signed center Alex Overhardt, who will join the team this season as a 17-year-old.

Overhardt, the Hawks’ 11th round pick in the 2012 WHL Bantam Draft is from Cherry Hills, CO. He had 41 goals and 42 assists for 83 points in 75 games last season for the Colorado Thunderbirds Midget U16 AAA team of the Tier 1 Elite Hockey League. As captain of his team, Overhardt helped lead the Thunderbirds to the championship game at USA Hockey Nationals in Green Bay, WI this past April.

“Alex had several options available to him and we’re excited he’s chosen to continue his development with the Winterhawks,” said Portland Winterhawks General Manager & Head Coach Jamie Kompon. “Alex is a two way center and his game has really evolved over the past two years. His point totals reflect his offensive abilities but his attention to details in face-offs and penalty killing along with his leadership characteristics has enabled him to be the player he is today. We look forward to watching him develop into a core player for us.”

Premier Membership season tickets and 20, 12 and 6-game plans for 2014-15 are on sale now. Contact the Winterhawks today at 503-236-HAWK or to guarantee the best seat locations.
