Hawks alum Joachim Blichfeld signs with Sweden’s Växjö Lakers

Portland, Ore. – Winterhawks alumnus Joachim Blichfeld this week signed a two-year, professional contract with the Växjö Lakers of the Swedish Hockey League.

Blichfeld led the San Jose Barracuda, American Hockey League affiliate of the San Jose Sharks, in scoring each of the last two seasons. Since graduating from the Western Hockey League, Blichfeld has tallied 100 points in 138 games split between the NHL and AHL.

Recently, the 23-year-old native of Fredrikshavn, Denmark skated for his home country at the 2022 IIHF World Championships and led the way with five goals in seven games.

Prior to his time with San Jose, he appeared in 187 games in Portland, recording 228 points. He was named the WHL’s Player of the Year in the 2018-19 season and took home the Bobby Clarke Trophy for leading the league in points with 114 during that campaign. Blichfeld was originally selected by San Jose in the 2016 NHL Draft (#210 overall).
