Refresh

Tonight’s tilt presents an opportunity to rebound from a disappointing home loss in Game 3 on Wednesday. During the regular season, there may be more of a focus on dissecting what went wrong and enacting long-term fixes, but when the games are coming every other day in the playoffs, it’s all about flushing each game when it’s done and coming prepared for the next one.

“I don’t have to remind (the players), they’ve been through it…our guys understand what they have to do – they’re a team that has been through a lot of things during the year and they’re going to be able to rise to the occasion,” said Head Coach/GM Mike Johnston after Wednesday’s game.

It’s a new day for the Hawks, and with a 2-1 series lead and a pair of games over the next two nights, they know they have the chance to do something special this weekend if they can come out firing tonight.

Road Warriors

As solid as the Hawks have been on home ice this season, perhaps their road performances – particularly late in the year and in the playoffs – have been even more crucial to the team’s success. After rattling off a 5-1 record at accesso ShoWare Center against the Thunderbirds during the regular season, Portland picked up back-to-back-to-back road wins during the end of round one in Prince George and to open round two against Seattle. As they face another test in a hostile environment tonight, the Winterhawks can lean on their experience as they look to take a 3-1 lead in the series back to Portland on Saturday.
