Streakin’
The Hawks have picked up steam as of late, winning three of their last four games and notching points in five straight contests. After opening up the week with a comfortable 6-2 win over Spokane at home, they face a different test in a high-flying Seattle team that is riding a 16-game point streak (15-0-0-1).

An uptick in the team’s offensive production has been key – after averaging 1.8 goals per game in February, the Hawks have turned that around with 3.2 goals per game on average through six games in March. And with five goals in Spokane last Friday and another six on Tuesday, it seems like Portland’s ability to tally in bunches is flourishing once more, lending plenty of confidence to the team’s forwards heading into a tough tilt tonight.

Playoff Atmosphere
Speaking of the I-5 Rivalry, fans in the PNW are getting a healthy dose of Portland vs. Seattle to wrap up the regular season. The teams will meet tonight and tomorrow, then next Friday and Saturday as well with each club getting two home games in that span. It’s an exciting run of games for the two rivals which should sharpen both clubs as the postseason draws nearer.

“I think we’re just worrying about the key details. I think when you get into the playoffs, every small detail is important. It’s going to be great that we play Seattle four times (in the last two weeks), it’s gonna keep us sharp and ready for when playoff time comes,” said Josh Zakreski after Tuesday’s win.

Milestone Man
Luca Cagnoni had himself a night on Tuesday, with two goals and one assist to surpass the 100-point milestone in his WHL career. The top 2023 NHL Draft prospect now ranks second in team scoring and seventh among all WHL defensemen with 63 points on the year. The next Hawk on milestone watch is Robbie Fromm-Delorme, who sits just two assists shy of 100 in his impressive career.
