Former Winterhawks Head Coach Jamie Kompon joins Florida Panthers coaching staff

Portland, Ore. – The Portland Winterhawks, proud member club of the Western Hockey League, congratulate former Head Coach & General Manager Jamie Kompon on his new position as the Florida Panthers’ assistant coach.

Kompon, 55, spent the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons behind the Portland bench, amassing a record of 77-54-13 as he guided the Winterhawks to consecutive playoff berths and a Western Conference Championship appearance in 2015.

A native of Thunder Bay, Ont., Kompon heads to South Florida for his 23rd season as a coach at the NHL level, having spent eight years with the St. Louis Blues, six with the Los Angeles Kings, two with the Chicago Blackhawks and, most recently, six seasons with the Winnipeg Jets.
