Winterhawks Fall 5-4 to Everett in 3rd Preseason Game

Portland nearly completed a late third-period comeback but fell just short losing 5-4 to Everett on Sunday night.

Down 2-0 in the 1st, Evan Weinger converted on a breakaway on a great feed from Joachim Blichfeld to make it a one goal game. Early in the 2nd, Cody Glass tied it with a power play goal on a wicked wrister from the right circle.
Three straight goals from Everett made it a 5-2 game but Portland battled back. Skyler McKenzie had an incredible shift to set up Blichfeld for a short handed goal with four minutes remaining to make it 5-3. Just 27 seconds later, Keoni Texeira rifled one past Everett’s Carter Hart to make it a one goal game.
But that’s as close as Portland would get as Everett would hold on for the win.
The Winterhawks continue their preseason play Thursday, September 7th against Spokane at 3:00 pm in Kennewick.
