Winterhawks Acquire Draft Pick from Kootenay Ice

The Portland Winterhawks have acquired a fourth-round pick in the 2018 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft from the Kootenay Ice in exchange for forward Colton Veloso.

Veloso was entering his third full season with the Winterhawks. He played 156 games with Portland and registered 30 goals and 22 assists. Veloso also played 15 playoff games with the Winterhawks, contributing six points.

‚ÄúThis was a very difficult decision for us as a coaching staff. We have been presented with a very unique situation having 5 of our own overage players and only able to keep three. In trading Colton to Kootenay we know he will get great coaching and be an integral part of a program on the rise.” Said Head Coach and Winterhawks General Manager Mike Johnston.
