The Winterhawks continued their strong preseason with an 8-3 win over Kootenay


The Winterhawks came away with a decisive 8-3 victory over Kootenay on Friday at the Toyota Center in Kennewick, Washington.

It was an even first period as the Winterhawks and Ice both snagged two goals a piece. Portland’s Jaydon Dureau notched his second of the preseason and Ilijah Colina buried the other.

In the second, the Winterhawks took the lead on a goal from Ty Kolle just over five minutes in. Brad Ginnell and Mason Mannek extended the Winterhawks lead to 5-2 later in the frame.

The Winterhawks strong second carried over into the third. Ryan Miley potted his first of the preseason, with llijah Colina and Jaydon Dureau picking up the assists. After Kootenay got one back, Lane Gillis scored keeping Portland’s lead at four. Brad Ginnell buried one late to make it a 8-3 final for the Hawks. It’s Portland’s third win of the preseason and their second straight.

The Winterhawks continue their preseason tomorrow at 3:00pm against the Red Deer Rebels at the Toyota Center in Kennewick.
