Portland Winterhawks (2) vs Everett Silvertips (3)

Moda Center- Portland, OR– Thursday, April 12th

Henri Jokiharju gave Portland a 2-1 lead with just over two minutes remaining in the third period, but two late goals from Everett led to a 3-2 Silvertips victory. The Silvertips now own a 3-1 advantage in the best-of-seven second round series.

Everett got on the board first with just over one minute remaining in the opening period, when Connor Dewar tipped a point-shot past Winterhawks goaltender Cole Kehler to make it 1-0 Everett.

In the second period, Portland outshot Everett 12-3 but were unable to beat Silvertips netminder Carter Hart.

In the third, the Winterhawks finally broke through when a Brendan De Jong drive bounced off a Silvertip player infront and found the back of the net to tie the game at one with 14:46 remaining in regulation. Portland then brought the 7,312 screaming Winterhawk fans to their feet when Henri Jokiharju wristed home a powerplay marker with just 2:07 left in the game.

But the Silvertips came right back, with Garrett Pilon firing a rebound goal past Kehler to tie things at two just nine seconds later. Then, 46 seconds later, again the Silvertips converted, this time on a Wyatte Wylie shot from just inside the right circle that bounced off a body infront of the net. Down 3-2, Portland pulled their goalie late, which led to a fantastic Skyler McKenzie chance, but Carter Hart denied him. The Silvertips would hold on for the 3-2 win.

With the victory, Everett takes a 3-1 series lead.
The Winterhawks continue their playoffs against the Everett Silvertips for Round 2 on April 13th in Everett for Game 5. Tickets on sale here, and single game and group tickets now on sale.
