Hawks Fall 4-2 in Moose Jaw Saturday

The Portland Winterhawks (4-3-0-0) fell 4-2 in Moose Jaw Saturday against the Warriors (3-3-0-0) as the team continued its road trip through the East Division.

Moose Jaw held a 2-0 lead after one period on goals by Torrin White and Sam Fioretti.

The Warriors got two early second period goals Jordan Wyton and Brayden Point to take a 4-0 lead, which would remain the score through the end of the period.

The Hawks got on the board in the third period when Brendan Leipsic scored a power play goal to cut the deficit to 4-1. Portland continued pressing, as Ty Rattie scored at the 17:24 mark to make it 4-2, but that was as close as the Hawks would get.

Portland outshot Moose Jaw 34-33 Saturday. Brendan Burke was in net for the Hawks and made 29 saves on 33 shots. Daniel Wapple stopped 32 of the 34 shots Portland fired at him.

The Hawks continue their road trip Tuesday night in Regina when they take on the Pats.
