Three Winterhawks players who’ve had big summers will hit the ice again this week in Plymouth, Michigan as part of the 2017 World Junior Summer Showcase. Kieffer Bellows, member of last year’s Team USA which won the Gold Medal, will suit up for the Americans again in the showcase event for the hosts. First-round selections in this summer’s NHL Draft Cody Glass and Henri Jokiharju will represent Team Canada and Finland respectively. The week of hockey is used as a talent evaluation opportunity for Canada, Finland, Sweden, and the United States in advance of the 2018 World Junior Championships this winter in Buffalo, New York.
The showcase, hosted by USA Hockey, runs from July 28th to August 5th, and fans will be able to watch the final three days of action on NHL Network. On Wednesday, August 2nd, Glass and Jokiharju will face-off head-to-head at 10 am Pacific, while Bellows and the Americans will face Sweden at 1 pm. Friday will see Canada face Sweden at 10 am, with the Finns taking on the United States at 1 o’clock. Saturday, August 5th, the tournament concludes with rivalry games, first between the Swedes and Finns at 1 pm. then the Americans and Canadians drop the puck at 4 to finish the week of international junior hockey.
