2017 Neely Cup and Toyota Family Fest Events August 24th-27th

The thought of an ice based sporting event is a welcome visual in this August heatwave. So with that, here is the much anticipated Portland Winterhawks 2017-2018 season announcement! The 2017-18 Portland Winterhawks season will get underway officially when the team hosts the annual intrasquad Neely Cup tournament August 24-27. This year due to the major remodeling projects going on at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum, it will take place for the first time at the Moda Center.

As tradition, the Neely Cup has camp participants divided into four teams named after prominent Winterhawks alumni. This year the teams are honoring each of the four decades of the team’s history. Jim Benning, Jason Wiemer, Braydon Coburn and Ryan Johansen. All selected as first round draft picks to the NHL.

Tickets for the Neely Cup are scheduled to go on sale soon. Fans will be able to purchase daily tickets or a four-day pass. Tickets will be available at or by phone at 503-236-HAWK.

Immediately following Sunday’s Neely Cup championship game, Winterhawks players will head out to the South Rose Quarter Fountain plaza to partake in the annual Toyota Family Fest, which is open to the public at no cost. There will be player autographs, the Rosebuds, inflatable games, street hockey, food carts, auditions for kids to become this year’s Fred Meyer Junior Reporter, a hockey gear swap and family fun for all ages.
