Portland Winterhawks (0) vs Vancouver Giants (1)

Portland, OR – Friday, December 8th

The Portland Winterhawks outshot the Vancouver Giants 37 to 18 but couldn’t find the back of the net as the Giants (14-13-2-2) took down the Hawks 1-0.

Portland (20-8-0-1) heavily out-played Vancouver in the first, out-shooting the Giants 14-5, but couldn’t solve Giants goaltender David Tendeck.

In the second, Portland’s strong play continued, again out-shooting Vancouver this time by a margin of 11-5 but the game remained scoreless.

After continuing their strong play into the third, Portland was eventually thwarted by the Giants, as Vancouver buried a goal 12:16 into the third. Portland would press late with an empty-net but again, Tendeck was up to the task.

Goaltender Cole Kehler, who signed an entry-level contract with the LA Kings earlier in the day, allowed just the one goal and made 17 saves on the night.

The Hawks are at home again tomorrow night for the Les Schwab Teddy Bear Toss against the Everett Silvertips at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum. Tickets for the season are on sale here, and single game and group tickets now on sale.
